How to use the Business Days Calculator

  1. Pick a tab: Count business days between two dates, or Add business days to a date.
  2. Enter the dates, or the start date and the number of days. Tick your weekend days, or use the Sat-Sun or Fri-Sat preset, and add any holidays.
  3. Press Calculate. Count mode shows the business days with the weekend days and holidays it left out. Add mode shows the resulting date and weekday.

How it works

Count mode. The calculator walks through every date in the range, including the start and end dates unless you untick them. A date counts as a business day when it is not one of your weekend days and not on your holiday list. A holiday that falls on a weekend is only excluded once.

Add mode. The start date itself is not counted. The calculator steps forward (or back, when subtracting) one calendar day at a time and counts only business days until it reaches N.

  • Weekend days: the days of the week you ticked, Saturday and Sunday by default
  • Holidays: the dates you added. Holidays outside the range are ignored.
  • N: the number of business days to add or subtract, from 1 to 10,000

Examples

  • Count from Monday 2026-09-07 to Friday 2026-09-18, both ends included, Saturday-Sunday weekend: 10 business days.
  • Count from 2026-09-01 to 2026-09-30: 22 business days.
  • Add 10 business days to Friday 2026-09-25: Friday, October 9, 2026.

Weekends and holidays differ by country

Most countries have a Saturday-Sunday weekend, but not all. Several Middle Eastern countries use Friday-Saturday, and some places have only one weekly day off. Pick the weekend of the place you are counting for, not where you happen to be.

Public holidays change from country to country, and often between regions. Add the ones that fall inside your range to the holiday list so a delivery or payment date isn't off by a day.

Limitations

  • There are no built-in national holiday calendars. Only the holidays you add are excluded.
  • At least one day of the week must be a working day. Ticking all 7 as weekend gives an error.
  • If the end date is before the start date, a note suggests swapping them.
  • Half days and custom working hours are not supported. Every business day counts as one full day.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a business day?

Any day that is not a weekend day and not a holiday you have added. By default the weekend is Saturday and Sunday.

Can I change the weekend days?

Yes. Tick any combination of days, or use the Friday-Saturday preset common in parts of the Middle East.

Are public holidays excluded?

Only the dates you add to the holiday list. The tool has no built-in national holiday calendars.

How do I find the date 10 business days from now?

Switch to "Add business days", enter today's date and 10. The start date itself is not counted.
