How to use the QR Code Generator

        
  1. Choose the Content type and fill in its fields, such as the URL or the Wi-Fi network name and password.
  2. Set the Error correction, Size, Quiet zone, and colors. The code updates as you type.
  3. Press Download PNG for documents and screens, or Download SVG for print.



                    

            
How it works

        
  • The content is turned into a text payload, encoded as UTF-8 bytes, and placed in the smallest QR version (1 to 40) that fits at the chosen error correction level.
  • Error correction adds Reed-Solomon data so the code can still be read when part of it is dirty or covered: L recovers about 7% of the code, M 15%, Q 25%, and H 30%.
  • Wi-Fi codes use the format WIFI:T:WPA;S:name;P:password;;, with \ ; , : " escaped, which phone cameras read to join the network.
  • Contacts use vCard 3.0, email uses mailto:, and locations use geo:lat,lng.
  • The code is drawn as SVG in your browser; no image server is involved, so the code is static and never expires.

Limitations

        
  • These are static codes: the content is in the code itself. To change where a printed code points later, encode a short URL that you control.
  • Long content makes a dense code that's hard to scan from a distance. Keep URLs short.
  • Light codes on dark backgrounds and low contrast can fail on older scanner apps; the tool warns about both.

No. The content is stored in the code itself, with no redirect service in between, so it works as long as the content (for example the website) exists.

                

                            

                    Which error correction level should I use?

                    
M suits most uses. Use Q or H if the code will be printed small, outdoors, or with a logo over the middle.

                

                            

                    PNG or SVG?

                    
SVG stays sharp at any size and is best for print. PNG is easiest for documents, slides, and websites.
